Psi Probe in Liferay Tomcat

PSI Probe is a community-driven fork of Lambda Probe distributed under the same open-source license (GPLv2). It is intended to replace and extend Tomcat Manager, making it easier to manage and monitor an instance of Apache Tomcat.

Steps to install Psi Probe in Liferay Tomcat.

  • Stop LR Tomcat
  • Download the Psi Probe from Here and copy that WAR to ${LR_tomcat}/webapps/
  • Copy below mentioned text to ${LR_Tomcat}/conf/tomcat_user.xml
  • <role rolename=”probeuser” />
  • <role rolename=”poweruser” />
  • <role rolename=”poweruserplus” />
  • <role rolename=”manager” />
  • <user username=”admin” password=”admin” roles=”manager-gui”/>
  • Create a file in ${LR_Tomcat}\conf\Catalina\localhost\probe.xml
  • Copy below mentioned text to probe.xml
  • <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>
  • <Context path=”/probe” privileged=”true” />
  • Start Tomcat

If you are accessing tomcat with localhost then access http://localhost:8080/probe and enter credentials as entered in tomcat_user.xml.

After following above step you will able to access Probe but if your application is referring database through portal_ext.properties then Probe will not show information regarding database.
Probe only displays the resource related to Tomcat so we have to setup database with JNDI.

Enjoy debugging the database queries with Psi Probe.
